A closer look

Set the pixel width and height of an image for a website, attachment or submission form. Keep aspect ratio is enabled by default: after the image loads, editing one dimension updates the other to follow the original proportions. Turn it off only when you deliberately want independent dimensions, which may stretch the picture. Choose PNG, JPG or WebP for the result. Resizing changes the image dimensions, not a print DPI setting, and enlarging an image does not reconstruct missing detail.

A practical example

For a 2400 × 1600 photo needed at 1200 pixels wide, keep the aspect ratio enabled and enter width 1200. The height becomes 800. Run the tool and check the exported 1200 × 800 image.

Common questions

How do I avoid stretching or distorting the image?

Keep aspect ratio selected and change just the width or height after loading the image. If a destination requires a different shape, use a crop workflow rather than forcing both dimensions. Turning the ratio off scales the picture into the exact rectangle you enter.

What are the size limits, and will a smaller image always be a smaller file?

The source must be one JPG, PNG or WebP up to 20 MB. Source and output dimensions must stay within 24 megapixels and 8,192 pixels per side. Lower dimensions often help, but format and quality also affect file size. Compare the downloaded result with the original.
