A closer look

Make a new JPG or WebP copy with a quality setting you control. This tool re-encodes a single image without changing its pixel dimensions, so you can compare visual detail against the resulting file size. Start with the default quality of 75%, then adjust between 10% and 100% as needed. It is useful for preparing web photos and attachments, but it cannot promise a specific size or a reduction for every source. Keep the original until you have reviewed the download.

A practical example

Choose a product photo, select WebP and keep quality at 75%. Run the tool and compare edges and file size. If the receiving system requires JPG, switch the output to JPG and compare that result instead.

Common questions

Why did the compressed file get larger?

The source may already be efficiently compressed, or the selected format and quality may require more space. The size-change percentage shows the actual result, not a promised saving. Try a lower quality or resize an oversized image separately, while checking that useful details remain readable.

Can I compress a PNG and keep transparency?

PNG is accepted as input, but this tool outputs JPG or WebP, not an optimized PNG. Choose WebP to retain transparent pixels where supported by your browser. JPG places transparency on white. Animation and original metadata are not preserved, and there is no dedicated lossless mode.

How to use this tool

  1. Choose your file from your device. It stays in your browser.
  2. Choose the available options, then select Run tool.
  3. Review the result and download or copy it. Keep your original.

Before you start

A lower quality usually makes a smaller file, but compression is not guaranteed to reduce every original. Compare the output size before replacing your image.

Quick answers

Does this tool send my input to a server?

What should I check before using the result?

Keep the original. Check the output’s content, layout, quality and format before sharing it or using it for important work. Review the limitations above for details.
